Lightning Strike Kill 21 Peoples

At least 21 people, including two children, were killed and 19 others injured in lightning strikes in six districts of Bangladesh, Monday morning. AK Ali Azam, Deputy Commissioner of Chapainawabganj district, about 302 kilometers northwest of the capital of Bangladesh, Dhaka, told Xinhua by telephone that nine people, including two children, were killed by the lightning strikes in the district Monday morning. All the victims sent to a local hospital, said Azam.
In Rajshahi district, 256 kilometers northwest of Dhaka, Deputy Commissioner Moni Subal Ghose said four people were killed and three more injured in lightning strikes in the district. He said, almost all the victims were harvesting rice when lightning struck them. In the district of Pabna, about 216 kilometers west of capital Dhaka, two farmers were killed and 13 others injured in lightning strikes in the morning, another official said. By quoting local residents, Deputy Commissioner of the district Mossamah Nazmanara Khannum say, 15 farmers were harvesting rice in the field at around 09:00 local time.
In Joypurhat district, 249 kilometers northwest of the capital, Dhaka, 2 people were killed in a lightning attack on Monday morning, according to Deputy Commissioner Mostafizur Rahman. At least 16 people were killed and several others injured by lightning during a tropical storm struck the seven districts in Bangladesh in May last year.
